#  Dan Levy

**Dan Levy,** Senior Lecturer in Public Policy, teaches courses in quantitative methods, policy analysis, and program evaluation at the Harvard Kennedy School. His professional responsibilities fall into 4 areas: Research, Teaching, Administration, and Consulting.

His research focuses on evaluating programs aimed at improving outcomes in various areas including education, health, and welfare. He recently served as co-principal investigator of Transparency for Development ([T4D](http://t4d.ash.harvard.edu/)), a project consisting in the design and mixed-methods evaluation of interventions aimed at improving transparency and accountability in delivery of health services in developing countries. He directed impact evaluations of girl-friendly school construction programs in Burkina Faso and Niger, and was involved in the evaluation of a conditional cash transfer program in Jamaica, and a technical assistance project to Mexico's Social Development Ministry (Sedesol). His teaching focuses on quantitative methods and policy analysis applied to public policy. He is very passionate about effective teaching, and has been involved in projects aimed at leveraging technology and evidence to improve student outcomes, including [blended learning](https://hilt.harvard.edu/levyintopractice) and [Teachly](http://teachly.me/). He oversaw the training component of [BCURE](https://epod.cid.harvard.edu/project/building-capacity-use-research-evidence-data-and-evidence-smart-policy-design), a project that involves training policymakers in better using evidence through a combination of online and in-person sessions. He also serves as the faculty co-chair of a week-long executive education program titled "[Using Evidence to Improve Policy and Programs](https://www.hks.harvard.edu/educational-programs/executive-education/leading-successful-programs)" aimed primarily at professionals involved in designing, implementing and/or funding social programs. He currently serves as the faculty director of the [Public Leadership Credential](https://www.hks.harvard.edu/educational-programs/public-leadership-credential), the Harvard Kennedy School's flagship online learning initiative. He co-founded [Teachly](https://teachly.me/), a web application aimed at helping faculty members to teach more effectively and more inclusively. He previously served as the Faculty Chair of the Kennedy School’s Strengthening Teaching and Learning Excellence (SLATE) Initiative, and as the Faculty Chair of MPA programs. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University, grew up in Venezuela, and is fluent in Spanish and French.
